In the gritty, explosive action-thriller She Rides Shotgun, Taron Egerton stars as newly released ex-con Nate. Marked for death by unrelenting enemies, Nate must now protect his estranged 11-year-old daughter, Polly (Ana Sophia Heger) at all costs. Shy, precocious, and wary of her father, Polly is swept up in Nate's dangerous plight as they flee to evade the corrupt sheriff and brutal leader of a gang who will stop at nothing to protect his criminal interests. With scant resources and no one to trust, Nate and Polly form a bond forged under fire as he shows her how to fight and survive -- and she teaches him what unconditional love truly means in this intense, moving story about loyalty, strength, and redemption.

William Bibbiani TheWrap There’s a confidence to 'She Rides Shotgun' that many other movies can’t match, as though the filmmakers always knew exactly where to put their camera and how long to let it roll. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter [She Rides Shotgun] makes Breaking Bad look like family entertainment. On the other hand, it’s an ultimately touching portrait of the growing bond between a criminal father and the young daughter he’s barely gotten a chance to know. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Ross McIndoe Slant Magazine Nick Rowland’s film doesn’t seem to have faith in the story the novel tells. Rated: 2/4 Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Manuel São Bento Movies We Texted About (...) it's Ana Sophia Heger who truly steals the show - a total revelation, carrying the film's emotional weight and elevating it with rare depth. Her performance isn't just impressive "for her age". It's impressive, full stop. Rated: B Jul 31, 2025 Full Review Charles Koplinski Reel Talk with Chuck and Pam As it is, “Shotgun” is a well-made film with solid performances that gets sidetracked by a story of dissimilar parts. Things never really gel... yet, Egerton and Heger are great together, and for some, that will be enough. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Jul 31, 2025 Full Review Cole Groth FandomWire It just sucks that all of their excellent work is wasted on a forgettable, low-energy thriller that can't even stick the landing.
