Set in Texas, an animated series follows the life of propane salesman Hank Hill, who lives with his substitute-teacher wife Peggy, wannabe comedian son Bobby, and deadbeat niece Luanne. Hank has strikingly stereotypical views about God and country but is unpretentious and sees the world simply.

King of the Hill's mild yet extremely funny depiction of small-town Texas life is refreshingly worlds away from from conventional prime-time animation.

Jim Sullivan Boston Globe King of the Hill has a peculiar way of drawing you in. It looks as if the Hills live in a normal world, but they don't quite. It's skewed. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Todd Camp Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com What the show lacks in technical expertise it more than makes up for with some of the most savagely on-target human caricatures in recent memory. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Ann Hodges Houston Chronicle A surprisingly sweet, frequently funny show. These animated characters from B&B creator Mike Judge and The Simpsons producer Greg Daniels are real people, and that Boomhauser person is a real riot. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Lanny Larson Fresno Bee The funniest new show of this TV season and Fox's intentionally funniest show since The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. debuted in 1993. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Bill Mann San Francisco Examiner This working-class comedy may, admittedly, but unfunny and unremarkable-looking to many viewers whose lifestyle it approximates. But this deliciously sharp-eyed parody of the beer-and-pickup-truck subculture will be irresistible to others. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Ellen Gray Philadelphia Daily News I'm finding King of the Hill the happiest surprise of the season. And I'm wondering why it is that these cartoon characters seem so much more real than most sitcom characters portrayed by living, breathing actors. Jul 30, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Steven T. King of the Hill Season 1 is honestly one of the best starts to a show out there. The comedy is smart and subtle. It doesn’t rely on cheap jokes or overt the top moments. It’s dry, awkward, and perfectly timed. Hank being constantly confused by the modern world is comedy gold. The characters are what really make it shine. Hank is the classic old school dad with a soft side. Peggy’s overconfidence is hilarious. Bobby is just unpredictable in the best way. And then you’ve got Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill rounding it out with their own weird energy. Everyone feels real and unique. It’s a rare show that balances heart and humor so well. No crazy plots, no forced drama, just solid writing and lovable characters. Easily one of the greatest animated shows ever made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/27/25 Full Review james o the series is created during The Simpsons and Beavis and Butt-Head run. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Ben F This is definitely one of if not my favorite show of all time I can't wait until we get the show back on hulu Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Tyler Y Every character grows on you more and more over the course of this series, there is something really special about this cast and how they act against each other. You will be surprised by how beautiful some of the episodes can be as the series goes on, with Hank and his son Bobby always trying to better relate to each other. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Georgan G Best animated series, ever! Funny but heartfelt, with believable characters.
