What to Know

Critics Consensus

A winning showcase for Megan Stalter, Too Much's approach to modern love is coolly detached but creator Lena Dunham's sharp sense of humor remains just right.

Phillip Maciak The New Republic Stalter is a sensational comic performer, and one of the things she’s best able to do is to convey the frenzied insecurity of her character. Jul 25, 2025 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic The more I’ve come back to the show, the more its slack, unromantic approach to love looks intentional. Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Sophie Butcher Empire Magazine It occasionally lives up to its name, but overall, Too Much is a funny, sexy, moving love story – and Girls fans will get a kick out of seeing Lena Dunham’s slightly softer side. Rated: 4/5 Jul 16, 2025 Full Review Mira Fox The Forward There are, of course, plenty of Jewish stereotypes to choose from, most of which have also been overused, overanalyzed and just generally beaten to death. We see almost all of them deployed by the end of the first episode. Jul 24, 2025 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) The pacing is slow and uneven, and a lot of the growth comes too late, but still creates a somewhat relatable love story that doesn’t shy away from the strangeness and gracelessness that can accompany relationships, whether they be romantic or platonic. Rated: 4/5 Jul 24, 2025 Full Review Joyce Slaton Common Sense Media Fans of Lena Dunham's breakout series Girls will be unsurprised that Dunham is still mining her personal life for comic gold, with sparkling results. Beth I I think you have to get past the first 2-3 episodes to get to the much better stuff so hang in there! It IS definitely Girls regurgitated in a different city and has a couple of ridiculously unrealistic moves during intercourse so it was tough to hang in. However, the writing in Episode 5 is so incredibly good, it made me come here to post a review. Multiple writers listed including Lena Dunham of course. The scene where Jessica goes off on Zev concluding their relationship is so incredibly on point, I cheered out loud. Such a true and realistic depiction of the treatment so many people show to their partners over a few years. Ended with her calling her a c..t which is also a very true example of a man taking a low blow instead of being mature and honest. Now on episode 6 so I'm hanging in and you should too! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Andrei D Stalter and Sharpe have very little to work with and everyone around them mostly can't act Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Becka E I wanted to like it but I found some of the acting forced. There were some stand out moments, but overall, the characters were just unlikable. They all had the same, dismissive, self-absorbed, elitest, mean personality. The show just lacked charm and relatability. I completely checked out at the wedding episode. It sadly became unwatchable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Luzia P Insuportável. Ver a Naomi Watts e o Andrew Scott naquela pepineira é uma dor de alma. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Sara B At times, it’s a little over the top, but overall this was exactly what I needed. And for any girl who has felt like she is too much or has to deal with parts of her brain by herself, this is an absolute gem to watch. There’s some really moving moments throughout and I love that The leads are in perfect and yet endearing. The casting on the show is fantastic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Mariska W Absolutely brilliant. Very cringe and yet I couldn’t stop watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
