The current dating landscape is bleak at best, and no one is more aware of this than Mackenzie, a disillusioned 25-year old law student whose love life consists of non-committal hookups and situationships from hell. When she has a "real life meet-cute" with Finn, a handsome and charming journalist, she starts to believe true love may actually exist. However, when the honeymoon phase wanes and the cracks begin to show, Mackenzie is forced to come to terms with whether or not she is to blame or if her love is actually too good to be true.

Christy Lemire FilmWeek (LAist) A really cool comedy that becomes something totally different, and that shift in tone is really impressive. May 8, 2025 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com It’s a level-headed portrait of a more everyday sort of misery: a relationship that becomes low-key hellish pretty early on and keeps getting incrementally worse. Rated: 3/4 Feb 7, 2025 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com This is a movie that wears out its welcome early, spinning around the same relationship ideas, and, worst of all, failing to give its lead enough character depth to justify spending so much time with her. Mar 16, 2024 Full Review Murjani Rawls Substream Magazine While you have to admire the film for sticking to its guns, they’ll be a part of you that will see more out of Mackenzie’s epiphany moment. David and Kalani straddle the line between unsettling and humor, often dipping into the former. Feb 25, 2025 Full Review Julian Roman MovieWeb I Love You Forever gets ugly fast in a vapid and nearly unwatchable journey of a toxic relationship's painfully predictable unraveling. Romance isn't on the menu as low self-esteem, psychological abuse, and trauma bonding battle for screen time. Rated: 1.5/5 Feb 17, 2025 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... effectively subverts millennial romcom tropes, yet seems to wallow in its misery and despair without a path to sympathy or deeper resonance. Courtney S. Really portrays the accuracy of a narcissistic relationship. Please watch with caution if you have experienced narcissism as it can be triggering. However it is eye opening on what to look for if you haven’t. Overall great movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/28/25 Full Review kimberly s Worst ending ever. Was genuinely enjoying the depiction of emotional abuse - it was relatable and realistic. The build, for what seemed like the majority of the movie, came to an abrupt end. It was very disappointing and if that kind of thing doesn't make or break you're evening, then dive in. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Alexa R Is this a joke?????? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/25/25 Full Review Lluvia A I was expecting to love this and while I found the relationship portrayed all too real, there was something ultimately lacking for me. I also did not find the main group to be very likable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/25/25 Full Review Berta M The lack of character development made it hard to care about anyone in this movie. Nothing in the movie carried substance other than the heavy subject matter. Given the circumstances, there was no back story or depth behind why either character continued in the relationship. Being love bombed is one thing but there are reasons why people behave this way in relationships. Past trauma, upbringing, environment, stress, that all seemed to be missing. Which made me not care about the characters. A law student being this desperate for love doesn't just happen because she met someone attractive and successful. And vice versa, the movie lacked motive. If they were simply vapid personality disorders, then it's also insulting to anyone who has been in this type of relationship. Moviemakers need to stop portraying domestic violence relationships as romantic and charming with a hint of crazy, they are so much more than that. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/24/25 Full Review Katherine M Almost speechless. Movie brilliantly portrays emotional and psychological domestic abuse only to negligently abandon any redemption or reckoning. The protagonist experiences no comfort, no remorse, no validation, and is left to feel responsible for the pain and anguish she experienced by her partner and “closest” friends. Seems like an absolutely horrible message to send. Would not recommend. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
