Slow-witted Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother (Sally Field), he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save -- his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).

Peter Bradshaw Guardian Forrest Gump is Hollywood film-making at its most corn-fed, sucrose-enriched and calorific; you’ll need a sweet tooth for it. Rated: 4/5 Jul 16, 2024 Full Review David Denby New York Magazine/Vulture Zemeckis has made a fast movie about a slow hero; he transforms Forrest's daffy misconceptions into lyrical flights. Forrest Gump has a softer, more delicate touch and a richer current of feeling than any of the other holy-innocent movies. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Michael Medved New York Post Hanks' performance [is] a triumph of dignity, decency, and warm-hearted humor... Even more than his Oscar-winning achievement in Philadelphia, this is a role that will be remembered as long as people care about great acting. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Nadir Samara Screen Rant Flaws and all, the movie unfolds like a book of short stories and that choice ushered in a confidence the script is able to pull off. Rated: 7/10 Nov 8, 2024 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture When analyzing the ultimate endurance that “Forrest Gump” has left in the decades since it first came out, it’s obvious that approaching it with a more inquisitive perspective leaves it with a much shallower impact than it did upon its initial release. Rated: 5/10 Nov 7, 2024 Full Review Cameron Meier MeierMovies.com Forrest was an ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances. Rated: 5/5 Mar 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Jason V 31 years later, it still invokes the same emotions i had when I first saw this movie in ‘94. An absolute classic and my favorite of all time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/25 Full Review Steve W A bit overrated. It sort of just ended with no conclusion really and it is quite controversial leaning in with American History, but still solid with great acting from Tom Hanks and Robin Writht. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/25 Full Review Audience Member Forrest Gump is one of those movies that leaves a lasting impression, even if it leans a little heavy on sentimentality. Tom Hanks is phenomenal—his performance as Forrest is tender, believable, and full of heart. The film does an amazing job of blending personal moments with sweeping historical events, and somehow it all feels cohesive. The soundtrack is great too—every song fits the moment perfectly and adds to the nostalgia. That said, some parts feel a bit too on-the-nose or emotionally manipulative. Jenny’s arc, in particular, could’ve been handled with more depth. Still, it’s a beautiful story about love, fate, and perseverance, and it’s easy to see why so many people connect with it. Not quite perfect, but definitely unforgettable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/28/25 Full Review Audience Member There are some films that leave you eith tears in your eyes. There are some films that inspire you to do something. There are some films that leave you eith your jaw on the floor. This film does it all. This is one of those rare few that changes you - leaves you a better person after finishing it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/26/25 Full Review Alice K Funny, witty, engaging, fantastic story line and story telling. I have seen it number of times over the years. I have never met anyone who didn’t like Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/25 Full Review Tina P. Number one favorite movie of all time!
