Author and rehabber Terry Masear wants to save every injured hummingbird in Los Angeles. Terry takes in the most fragile of patients through her volunteer hummingbird rescue, but the path to survival is fraught with uncertainty and drama. Over the course of Sally Aitken's intimate and moving documentary, we become invested in Terry's hummingbird patients -- including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Raisin, and Mikhail -- celebrating their small victories and lamenting their tiny tragedies. As a hummingbird enthusiast and caregiver, I am biased, no doubt, but I thoroughly enjoyed the documentary. The raw honesty, production, videography, and creative writing weave the stories of broken humans and hummingbirds into a lovely tapestry, where the story of compassion and courage continues through both.

The footage is very beautiful, and it's a beautiful story. In particular the mixing of high-speed camera footage of the birds with the time-lapse footage of the flowers was a great artistic choice. It seems like they are going for a more profound message as well, but I don't think it's explicit enough. Definitely good watch. It's also short enough. The movie doesn't drag on too long.

Terry Masear came from an abusive, povery-stricken background, yet went on to get FOUR advanced degrees. Her real calling became rehab of Hummingbirds. Rescuing animals is a form of spirituality. This documentary is beautiful & heartfelt.

Cute story about amazing little birds, it was a little disappointing there was no scientific explanation on this birds life, it was more of a personal experience of Terry's long term interaction with the neat creatures! Wouldn't it be nice if citizens of our countries had the same passion for our own peoples who are being destroyed by the sick corrupt greed of corporations and cowardly in their pocket politicians!
