What to Know

Critics Consensus

Julianne Moore's committed turn and the relatable premise of how far a parent will go for their child gives Echo Valley some high peaks, but soporific plotting sends it sloping back down to routine territory.

Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle Sweeney has something special, and “Echo Valley” is a positive sign that, whatever Sweeney has, she’s not coasting on it. Rated: 3/4 Jun 23, 2025 Full Review Laura Miller Slate Echo Valley is a serviceable thriller with an outlandish twist at the end, but the plot often seems at war with what feels like the movie’s true interest: Kate, a woman poleaxed by love. Jun 23, 2025 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) An overwrought, frustrating and flat melodrama that you’ll struggle to complete. Rated: 2/5 Jun 20, 2025 Full Review Matt Pais MattPais.com Lazy critics sometimes like to rave “A great time at the movies!” No one will say this about “Echo Valley.” It’s a bad time, and not worth it. Rated: C- Jul 16, 2025 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com Juoianne Moore never gives a bad performance. She continues that streak here. Rated: 6/10 Jul 13, 2025 Full Review Chris Cassingham In Review Online Echo Valley is successful so long as the viewer remains on the pulpy surface of its premise. Edward M This movie was contrived and sloppy. I was honestly shocked at how badly it was written and directed. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Michael B The writer for Echo Valley Brad Inglesby really blew it on this one! The movie is really bad; the writing is absolutely atrocious it seemed like the writer just threw anything he could at the wall to see if anything would stick. This is a really bad movie.....I would take a hard pass on this one! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Brian T Echo Valley said it was a thriller, but the story felt empty and didn’t go anywhere. The actors did what they could, but it didn’t matter much because the plot just got kind of silly. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/25/25 Full Review Joshua K By no way shape or form is this a thriller. This is a terrible example of writing and story telling. Drug addict daughter screws over loving mother. Drug dealer try’s to screw over loving mother. Mother wins in the end. Terrible story. Terrible acting. Just all around an awful movie. My wife and I both said what a dumb movie when it was over. Do not wast your time. Gave it 1.5 stars (because I don’t read 1 star reviews) so maybe someone would read this and save themselves Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie is awesome it's filled with hateable characters and lovable characters and the director is good at making you feel icky Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Goose R. First of all. Minus points for normalizing horse abuse. 2. Minus points for making fun of vegan roast. Seriously? Then there’s the outrageous and unreal story! Deep impact or ET was more credible than this story! A total waste of time 🍿/5 on Apple TV+ Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
